Difference between ISM separators and analogues

Info

The radial fan, popularly called a “snail”, has a number of disadvantages. However, it is worth noting that the first aerodynamic separators were designed on this principle. An engine located at the bottom of the unit rotates at the same speed and pumps air into the separation chamber through a tunnel. The air flow is regulated by a special damper that traps the air, thereby reducing its flow.

Now let’s look at the disadvantages of the radial fan. The engine is located at the bottom of the separator, so during operation, debris and dust on the floor near the engine can get into it. Power consumption is quite high. When the air flow is controlled by the damper, there is air resistance, so the motor overheats faster. The lower the air flow, the faster the engine can overheat and thus fail.

Now let’s take a look at ISM aerodynamic separators using a straight-flow axial motor. Kharkiv Grain Cleaning Equipment Plant was the first to develop and manufacture aerodynamic separators of this type.

The engine is located on the ISM separators directly in front of the separation chamber, which allowed us to reduce energy consumption without losing performance. Due to the presence of a straight-flow axial motor, we were able to equip the ISM separators with a frequency converter (mini computer), which is capable of changing the motor speed. Thanks to this innovation, ISM separators can more accurately adjust the air flow to any crop, any humidity and any contamination. The air entering the separation chamber passes through the motor, thereby cooling it. Another advantage of the frequency converter is the fact that when working on different crops, we use different amounts of electricity (heavy crops use more electricity, and light crops use less). In general, ISM grain cleaners consume 3 times less electricity than their analogues. The ISM separators also have a “reverse” mode, which is not available in analogues. The reverse mode allows you to clean the separator from the previous crop and prepare it for the separation of a new one.

You have been presented with the main differences between ISM separators and their analogues. Of course, the most important aspect for farmers is the quality of cleaning and calibration of the separator. Here we can say simply, ISM aerodynamic separators are recognized by farmers all over the world. Our grain cleaning equipment is used in Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.
