How to choose an aerodynamic grain cleaner?

An ideal separator will be one in which there is the least turbulence, there is no stagnation zone of the air flow, the air flow is as balanced as possible, and as a result, the ideal aerodynamics of the separator. Such equipment separates material, consumes minimal electricity and works quieter.

Is it possible to increase the loading hopper of ISM separators?

Yes, you can increase the hopper if you work in cleaning mode. But if you work in calibration mode, we do not recommend to do this, as this can lead to excessive pressure in the grain release zone, which also will negatively affect the quality of separation.

Why are there no adjustable shutters in grain separators for 5-10 tons?

In machines for 5-10 tons, the width of the trays is not more than 100 mm, so the use of adjustable shutters does not give a large result of separation adjustment, but significant turbulence is created in the separation chamber at different positions of the shutters, and it is not desirable for high-quality separation.

What is the difference between ISM aerodynamic separators and screen separators?

The principle of separation between screen and aerodynamic machines is completely different and these machines solve different problems. Aerodynamic separators, besides cleaning abilities, do their best for selecting high-quality sowing material with high biological value. Screen machines calibrate grain only by size.

What type of crops do you work with?

We work not only with crops, but also with any bulk material that needs to be divided into fractions.

If it is not possible to build a stationary grain complex, what solutions do you have?

In 2014, we developed MGC-25, which is a mobile plant and is completely replaced by a stationary grain complex.

Where can ISM separators be used?

Our ISM separators can operate both in open areas and indoor areas. They are installed on stationary grain complexes, on elevators, grain cleaning complexes, on trailers (work from the generator), in lines with screen machines and trier units, with packing lines, in seed plants, etc.

How is it possible to load the separator?

Manual loading, screw conveyor, elevator, belt conveyor, scraper and other types of loading. In European countries, the loading of small separators for 5-10 tons is carried out by means of bags of the big-bag type with a valve hanging up by tractors or other means to the certain height. Grain is fed by gravity from big-bag to separator hopper.

How easy is it to work with ISM separator?

The ISM separator is very easy to control. When creating ISM separators since 2009, we adhere the following principles: Simplicity, Reliability, Durability, Economy, Comfort. One motor is installed, high-precision adjustment of air flow rate due to frequency converter, minimum number of control buttons, absence of lubrication points and replaceable components. Grain cleaning from contaminants, cooling of the electric motor, cooling of the electric box is carried out due to the air flow created by the fan.

Does the aerodynamic separator divide different grain mixtures?

The task of the aerodynamic separator is to clean crops from impurities, weeds and related debris (weed for ISM up to 10%, other separators up to 7%), divide by weight and obtain high-quality sowing material.

For accurate separation of grain mixtures, there are other machines. Any aerodynamic separator, whoever it is manufactured, when working to separate one culture from another, can encounter the following factors:

  • Seeds are easily separable (for example, wheat and husks): it is not difficult to divide them among themselves in one cleaning pass.
  • Seeds are hard to separate (for example: barley and sunflower): the separator divides such grain mixture well, but seeds of both crops can fall into one or two trays (the dispersal zones of these crops intersect), so where the seeds of the two crops are caught, they must be passed through the aerodynamic separator again.
  • Seeds are inseparable (for example: peas and soybeans): their dispersal zones are superimposed on each other, so the separation of such grain mixture is impossible (the rate of winding of these types of grains is almost the same).

Who is the inventor of the ISM separator?

At the initial stage of the development of aerodynamic separators in 2009, later they were called ISM, that is Impeller-Separating Machine, were held with the participation of specialists from the Department of Aerodynamics of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute. The main developer of ISM separators is Ivan Voloshchenko, who is also a graduate of the first faculty (Aircraft Construction Faculty, specialization "Aerodynamics of Aircraft") of the Kharkiv Aviation Institute in 1982. Our development is fully patented and continues to improve to this day.

Does the aerodynamic separator injure the grain?

The absence of screens in the design of ISM separator allows you to save grain without injuring it, and when working with legume crops, the rubber is additionally installed to the internal surface of the ISM separator metal structure.

What is the power consumption of ISM separators?

In February 2018, we received the Ukrainian Record as the most energy-efficient grain separators.

Is it problematic to switch from culture to culture when working on ISM separator?

The transition from culture to culture on ISM separator is no more than 3 minutes. During this time, the separation chamber is purged in direct and reverse mode with air created by the fan, after which you can start working on the following culture.

How to maintain the ISM separator?

Firstly, after each spent shift, the ISM separator must perform a 3-minute purge in direct and reverse mode. Secondly, at the end of the work season clean the separator and its air duct from dust and debris by blowing it inside using a compressor. Thirdly, at intensive operation of the separator once a year, it is recommended to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the screws and engine fasteners. Fourthly, it is recommended to tighten the electrical wires in the separator box at least once every 3 years.

Periodically, we face unreasonable criticism from other manufacturers of aerodynamic grain separators. In this, they see one of the ways to fight for a client on the market. This is the law: leaders are always being criticized, so we take it for granted. We prefer to build, not destroy. We do not consider it reasonable to respond to unreasonable criticism and accusations, which are not supported by a single mathematical formula and evidence. The only source whose opinion is important to us is the client, the farmer. Only his opinion has always been, is and will be a priority for us.

Does the ISM separator work with complex cultures and what?

Yes, our ISM separators easily cope with such complex crops as alfalfa, poppy, carrot seeds, buckwheat, lentils, amaranth, pumpkin seeds and other seeds of vegetable and melon crops.
